Can you guarantee my success?
No. Storytelling is highly individual and outcomes depend on many factors. What we do guarantee is rigorous teaching and support. (See full Disclaimer here →). But I've worked on films and documentaries with companies and producers that have won Academy Awards, BAFTAs, Emmys and the rest. And I've taught first-timers the exact same methods I've used on those projects.
This is a system you can rely on.
This is a system you can rely on.
It's what I use, and all it takes is following essential steps while you develop your idea. It means you never have to feel unmoored, waiting for instinct to strike and having to go on hunches to get you where you want to be with your film.
The principles behind this method are, in one way, straightforward, and they apply to all stories.
With practice, this system will allow you the freedom to be as instinctive, creative and free-thinking as you like, with the knowledge that the ideas that you come up with will have a place in a solid, meaningful story.
And it’s always worth mentioning how fast this storytelling knowledge can be applied. If your job is to look at cuts regularly and give feedback, then this approach can save you hours in a day and months in the edit.
The DocFix Program has been designed to be complete, and everyone has gaps in their knowledge. We have students who are starting out and trying to build a documentary career from outside the system to experienced documentary makers with their own successful production companies.
Because it suits some people better than others, it's worth scheduling a quick phone call where I can talk through what's involved.
